I am white and my husband of 19 years is a Mexican man and we have a young 12 yr old daughter. We both teach her about her roots (American & Mexican) and in three years we are going to celebrate her with an Quinceañera, We both spoke with her about the Quinceañera and the sweet sixteen and asked her which one she would prefer to celebrate and she chose the Quinceañera. Which made us happy she did. We would love to do both but, that would be to expensive. Well anyways it’s a blessing to know your culture or cultures in our case, it’s honestly a true privilege to have in life.
